The INSEAD Business School held an event for its alumni in Cairo in 2010 to allow networking among executives within the business and financial field. Union Capital sponsored the event which hosted Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris as a speaker as well as Union Capital Chairman and Cofounder, Hani Sarie-Eldin
Baladna Exhibition
Union Capital was the only financial institution that sponsored the Baladna Exhibition organized by the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Egypt that took place at the Cairo International Conference Center between May 19-22 in 2016. Union Capital joined this exhibition in an attempt to support SMEs in Egypt. The Managing Director of Union Capital spoke at the Exhibition which was attended by the firm's Chairman
Startup Weekend – Luxor
Minoush Abdel-Meguid participated in the startup weekend that was held in Luxor during March 6-8 in 2014 as a mentor and judge. The participation of our Managing Director highlighted our continued support to young entrepreneurs as well as their initiatives and business ideas
Startup Weekend – Aswan
Union Capital participated in the Startup weekend that was held in Aswan during Nov 14-16 in 2013. 25 entrepreneurial teams worked together transforming their creative ideas into business models across all sectors. The event was sponsored by the USAID as part of its entrepreneurship programs.
Startup Weekend – Giza
Minoush Abdel-Meguid participated in the Startup Weekend that was held in the Smart Village, Giza during May 17-18 in 2013 as a mentor. Minoush spent a whole weekend working with contenders guiding them in moving their ideas into business plans with a clear timeline and feasibility tests.
Startup Weekend – Port Said
Union Capital was one of the sponsors of the Port Said Next Gen Competition that took place in Nov 2011. Over 20 plans were submitted that day and Minoush was among the three panel judge that chose the winners. The event was organized by Port Said SME Association and the Global Entrepreneurship Program which is part of the USAID Egypt Competitiveness Project and supported by University of Port Said.
Startup Battle – Egypt
Abdel-Meguid participated in the Startup Battle held in Egypt in 2013 as a panel judge which was the first startup battle taking place on December 26th, 2013 at the Conrad Cairo Hotel. In this event one winner assumed the Ultimate Egyptian Startup Weekend champion.
Egypt SSC Union Capital Prize
Union Capital offered direct mentorship to the winning team of the SSC Egypt. UC provided pre-incubation services and guided the team in developing a business plan, and its feasibility study.
Cairo ICT Fair
Union Capital was one of the sponsors of the 15th International Telecommunication and Information Technology Trade Fair (Cairo ICT Fair) and the Middle East and North Africa Forum that was held at the Cairo International Conference Center in 2011. Cairo ICT Fiar was the first international exhibition and conference organized in Egypt after the Jan 25 Revolution.
Startup Weekend – Alex
Startup Weekend-Alex was held in Alexandria at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport during Sept 22-24 in 2014. Startup Weekend is a non-profit based in Seattle, Washington, and it organizes 54-hour events in cities around the world, which to help educate, support, and empower people to become entrepreneurs.
Google Ebda2
Google announced a new competition called ‘Ebda2 with Google’ in Sept 2011, in which Minoush, our managing director participated as a judge and mentor. Google hopes to unleash and award Egypt’s most talented entrepreneurs with USD 200k in seed capital “to bring their winning business ideas to the market. The concept of Ebda2 is to “Inspire entrepreneurs to start their own businesses and become contributors to the society at large using technology as a catalyst for growth and economic prosperity.” UC led a session on "Perfecting Your Pitches"
